Movement Center LA educators work with the healthy and the injured, children and seniors, runners and surfers, performing artists and athletes. Their teaching methods are used to attune restorative or expansive movements to each individual body.

Each movement educator has their own diverse set of skills and talents with one mission in mind…to tailer each session to your level, desired focus and need. We are a fully equipped GYROTONIC® method and PILATES studio and through the many different body conditioning techniques we offer, Movement Center LA's team returns bodies to a more youthful level of flexibility, strength, and power. These unique methods bring knowledgeable and individualized instruction in exercise form for those who are on all physical levels. 

Located just steps from Santa Monica Beach in a two story historical craftsman’s style bungalow, we are able to offer custom one-on-one private, semi-private, and small group training in your very own private rooms for your in-studio session.

The GYROTONIC® Method

The Gyrotonic method is an orginal, and unique movement method that enables simultaneous lengthening and strengthening of muscles, stimulates circulation, and enhances joint mobility, and coordination.  Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions, with corresponding breathing patterms. with Gyrotonic exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.

Gyrotonic Method creator, Juliu Horvath, designed a specialized line of equipment around these natural movement patterns. Because Gyrotonic equipment is highly adjustable, it can be customized to fit each person's unique physique and ability, adapting for things such as height, arm/leg length and range of motion.

GYROKINESIS® METHOD

The Gyrokinesis Method is a movement method that gently works the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. it is an original, and unique movement method which has benefits & qualiies similar to those found in yoga, tai chi, gymnastics, and dance. The Gyrokinesis Method is practiced in group or private classes under The instruction of a certified Gyrokinesis trainer, and can also be practiced at home with a mat, chair, and instructional Gyrokinesis Dvds.

Pilates Method & STOTT PILATES®

STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates, and is one of the safest, most effective methods of exercise available. It incorporates modern exercise principles, and applies proven and accepted practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. After realizing the benefits of the concepts of the original Pilates method, and in collaboration with a team of physical therapists/physiotherapists, sports medicine and exercise professionals, the Merrithews dissected and re-connected this unique form of exercise into a comprehensive, systematic, contemporary approach to the original teachings. STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. This involves placing more emphasis on pelvic and scapular stabilization, and integration of all the parts of the body into one. As well, preparatory exercises and modifications allow the technique to be appropriate for many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to sport-specific training and everyday life.

The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth

The Bradley Method of natural childbirth (also known as "husband-coached childbirth") is a method of natural childbirth developed in 1947 by Robert A. Bradley, M.D. (1917–1998) and popularized by his book Husband-Coached Childbirth, first published in 1965. The Bradley Method emphasizes that birth is a natural process: mothers are encouraged to trust their body and focus on diet and exercise throughout pregnancy; and it teaches couples to manage labor through deep breathing and the support of a partner or labor coach. Teachers of the Bradley Method believe that—with adequate preparation, education and help from a loving, supportive coach—most women can give birth naturally, without drugs or surgery.
